On Saturday June 28th, Philadelphia is hosting the AFSP “Out of the Darkness” overnight walk to raise funds for Life-Saving Suicide Research and prevention programs. Please listen to my conversation with the joyful and passionale Patricia Gainey, whose work as Regional Director here keeps her busy, but hopeful, very hopeful. Our conversation sparked memories of my own experience with a friend and moved me to tears. The Overnight Walk begins with a very inspiration opening ceremony as the sun sets over the Art Museum in the City of Brotherly Love.
Details at afsp.org, but if you listen you’ll really feel the passion behind the work happening here and nationally; i.e. organizing local fundraising efforts and events, leading government advocacy efforts, providing resources for survivors of suicide loss and turning the tide on suicide statistics which are way too high!
