The Piazza at Schmidt's Commons in Northern Liberties is hosting their first ever open-air Cinco de Mayo celebration on Friday, May 5th from 5pm - 10pm. Kristen is joined by Krystal Souvanlasy, Event and Programming Director for The Piazza at Schmidt's Commons to talk about the celebration which features live bands, entertainment, dancing, dance lessons, sombrero races, pinatas and more - kicking off at 5pm with traditional Mexican dancers Ballet Folklorico Yaretzi. This fun spring event features live music, a fashion contest, traditional derby fare, horse and carriage rides, and of course mint juleps! Proceeds for this event go toward Hope Springs Equestrian Therapy, an incredible organization helping to enhance the quality of life of individuals with cognitive, physical, emotional or behavioral disabilities by providing them with affordable therapeutic horseback riding. Just in time for Mother's Day and World Ovarian Cancer Day, General Hospital actors Robert Palmer Watkins (Dillon Quartermaine), Donnell Turner (Curtis Ashford), William deVry (Julian Jerome), and Maura West (Ava Jerome) are coming to Philadelphia for a fan event to benefit the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation. Robin Cohen, Co-Founder of the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation joins Kristen in studio to give some background on the organization and provide all of the details for this unique fundraising event.
