Share your Spectrum memories - Tuesday, July 15, 2008

It was Game 1 of the 1985 Wales Conference Quarterfinals between the Flyers and New York Rangers.  Mark Howe scored the game winner for the Flyers...they won 4-3.  The Spectrum rocked with every goal.  What an amazing place to watch a hockey game!

These days, the only times I go to the Spectrum are to see shows like The Wiggles, or The RIngling Brothers Circus.  I know its best days are behind it, but I will really miss that place.

I have so many fond Spectrum memories...

The very first was the Foreigner / Billy Squire concert we went to. My older sister, her friend & I all wanted to go. We were only in HS (freshman & sophmores). My dad was leery of letting us go by ourselves, so he came with us. When we went to school afterwards, we told our other friends @ how great it was & that dad came with us. They were like, Wow your dad is sooo cool (which he was & still is, by the way)!!!

Finally, Sixers & KiXX tickets. Meeting friends at the Rocky or Kate Smith statues. Two (2) championships for the latter, who are my 2nd family:) Such great times. I will miss the Spectrum very much!!!!

My first memory was a concert there while in HS.

All subsequent visits were sports-related, including a group tour of the facility, including the Sixers locker room.

Fun times & fond memories are what the Spectrum has given me. Thank you to All - Ed Snider, Zach Hill, the Sixers & fellow fans. Also Ed Tepper, Jeffrey Rotwitt, the KiXX players, staff & Fan Krew. Last, but certainly not least, all of the vendors & employees, esp. Eric & Rita. Thanks for the memories, The Spirit of the Spectrum will ALWAYS be at Broad & Pattison!!!!!
