In the early 2000s, TRL was a weekday staple.
You'd come home from school, make a snack, and turn on the show so you could watch Carson Daly interview your favorite celebrities and play the top music videos of that day. Eventually, MTV started focusing less on music and more on guilty pleasure reality shows, and TRL fell by the wayside in 2008.
But it seems the network has recognized the power of the show, announcing that soon it will bring a version of TRL back. The show will be called MTV Live and will take place in the same, now-iconic studio where TRL once lived. Full details about what to expect haven't been announced yet, but MTV's president has said the new iteration of the show will incorporate both music and other elements, much like how TRL used to. Look for the dose of nostalgia to debut in mid-June.
Please tell me they are going to bring back Carson Daly.
