Billy Joel has sold over 150 million albums worldwide, but only one of his studio releases has been certified Diamond (10 million copies solid in the U.S.) by the Recording Industry Association of America, and it celebrates its 39th anniversary today (September 28th.)
The Stranger is only nine tracks but contains six of Joel’s biggest hits and set list mainstays: “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song),” “The Stranger,” “Scenes From An Italian Restaurant,” “Only The Good Die Young,” “She’s Always A Woman” and “Just The Way You Are,” which won both the Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year Grammys in 1978.
